Food, Inc.

Have you seen this movie? Holy cow. Literally. It gave me a whole new perspective on what I buy at the store and eat, just like this book did. I agree with the Washington Post—every American should see this documentary.

Clay and I intended to watch part of it then go to bed, but we couldn't stop. It was so interesting.

It made me cry. It angered me. It made me want to be best friends with farmer Joel Salatin and his "piggles." But most importantly, it reinforced my committment to buy local, natural foods as much as possible.

Do you buy locally? What are some of your favorite local/natural foods? Please tell.

I need to watch this! I've heard from several people that it's a life changer. Did it kind of make you sick? I've heard of it having that effect too :)

Oprah had a show on this movie. I buy Utah's own all the time. I also buy at the Farmer's market when ever I can go. Thanksgiving point has one on Fridays. I went to pioneer park last weekend and got corn, cucumbers, cherries, etc... It was all delicious.

Yes I forgot to add that I had to close my eyes A LOT. I don't know what I missed but I think it was animals getting slaughtered ... not a fan.

I saw this movie and too loved it! Definitely makes me want to buy from local farmers.

PS. I wish I could have seen you before you left. I loved your voicemail and if my mind wasn't in a hundred different places at once trying to pack and get stuff together I would have been less of a spaced out zombie and called you back to come over. I seriously miss you and am sad to miss our weekly get togethers. Seriously, I am worried about making friends here, and its just scary living in a new place where we don't know anyone really. Basically I already miss home. Oh the joy of transitioning in a new country.... yikes. Love you!

As soon as the movie ended, Mike and I looked at eachother and said, "What do we need to throw away in our refrigerator?". I seriously couldn't bare the thought of eating a manure-filled burger or feeding my kiddos e. coli chicken. EEeeewwwww. And be glad you shut your eyes. I did too, but I caught a glimpse here and there. Luckily they do have some local farms here and bountiful baskets. And Safeway is transitioning to buying about half of their produce locally. Yeah! You guys should get a dehydrator. It's a great way to save fruit so you can just buy in season and have an alternative to freezing. And the kids love fruit chips!
