Confession: I never thought I would own a sewing machine. Sewing was never my thing. My knowledge of it ended with a mandatory apron in 7th grade. That's it.
But because of my recent entrance into the stay-at-home mom world and with inspiration from some super-crafty friends, I slowly started thinking it would be cool to be able to sew things for Ellie, myself and friends and family.
My mom bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and I tried to set it up the other day--and failed. So I left the machine, useless, on my kitchen table. To tell you the truth, I was intimidated by it. Finally I decided to try again and even though I hate reading manuals, I broke it out and followed it to the tee. I got a little rush when I sewed a straight line on a piece of test fabric.
I went to Hobby Lobby later that day and saw a cute pair of glammed-up kitchen gloves with a matching apron and it in my cart to buy for my
little sister's birthday. As I was about to check out, I realized I had just set up my sewing machine and could maybe make the gloves and apron on my own. So I put them back, recruited my sister for help and here are the results . . .

| I embroidered a little cursive j to make it more personal |

umm kim, those are AMAZING!! you haven't sewn since 7th grade and you whip those up?? that is impressive!
we need to get together and make some cute things with our new sewing machines! :) when do you leave for florida??
that's so funny. i saw almost the same thing at marshall's and totally thought of jess too. yours are cuter thought:). i really need to jump on the sewing bandwagon- i'm just scared i might have to take up swearing because i remember when i sewed in high school i'd always get my bobbin stuck/break my needle/etc. i'm guessing machines are better these days though- or hopefully i'm less clumsy. looks like you've picked it up super fast! i can't wait for my bday- j/k :)
how did you just "wing" something like this??!?!?! i am seriously impressed. you've got some raw talent.
